Start with the garment, not the catalogue
Almost every failed heat press transfer traces back to the same mistake: someone picked a transfer, then found a garment for it. The order runs the other way. Fabric content, stretch behaviour and dye migration risk determine which transfer families are even candidates. Only then does finish — matte, gloss, raised, reflective — narrow it further.
Insta publishes a distinct product page per family for exactly this reason, plus a transfer comparison chart on the heat transfers hub. It also sells a heat transfer sample pack, which is the cheapest way to settle an argument about hand feel before an order is placed.

Insta DTF's published fabric list is cotton, cotton-poly blends, low-bleed polyester and canvas. The phrase “low-bleed polyester” is doing real work there — standard polyester dyes migrate under heat, and that is a garment problem no transfer fixes.

Same manufacturer, same press, and yet one peels hot and one peels cold, with pressure quoted in different units entirely. There is no universal setting. Press to the sheet that shipped with the product.
Where the press specification shows up in the result
A transfer specification assumes the press can deliver it. Two machine attributes decide whether it does.
Even distribution. Insta states its machines are built for superior pressure and temperature distribution across the entire platen. If one corner runs cold, that corner under-bonds. On a full-front print the failure shows up as edge lift after washing, not as a visible defect at the press.
Heat recovery. Opening the press dumps heat. Insta specifies swift recovery from one application to the next, so there is no wait for the platen to reheat before the next garment. On a 200-piece run that is the difference between a shift and two.
Consistency is also why shops graduate to automatic heat presses: pressure is set rather than felt, so garment 180 is pressed the same as garment 1.

Insta does not publish per-unit transfer pricing. Custom heat transfers are quoted against your artwork, imprint size and run length. Send artwork through the quote form or call 562.404.3000; Insta DTF has its own ordering form.
Before you send art, check it against the published minimums — 1 pt / 2 pt for Insta DTF white, 2 pt / 2 pt for colour, and 2.5 pt in both directions for InstaGlo. Artwork revisions are free before production and expensive after.
